All Faiths Food Bank
TAKE CARE annually participates in collections in all three offices. In addition, they sponsored and participated in All Faiths Food Bank’s fundraiser, Casino Night, Aston Gardens, in 2006 and 2007. All Faiths Food Bank serves Sarasota and Desoto Counties, offering hunger relief and providing community leadership and education on issues related to food, nutrition, and hunger.
Alzheimer's Association
In 2004, 2005, and 2009, TAKE CARE sponsored and participated in The Alzheimer’s Association’s local Memory Walk. TAKE CARE TRANSPORT donated its van services to pick up weary walkers. The Alzheimer’s Association is the world leader in Alzheimer research and support, dedicated to finding preventions, treatments, and eventually a cure for Alzheimer dementia.
Caregiver Resource Center
Take Care proudly supports the Senior Friendship Centers’ Caregiver Resource Center at the Brother William Geenen Living Room in Sarasota. In addition, Take Care annually sponsors the “Tee it Up” golf tournament to support the CRC. The CRC is a community resource center open to all Sarasota County caregivers without charge. Educational programs, support, and informational literature are available at this “one-stop resource” for caregivers. The CRC provides easy access to online assistance and caring with the support of their caring, experience volunteers, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Diabetes Center for Excellence - University of Florida
Take Care Private Duty Home Health Care is a proud supporter of the University of Florida Diabetes Center of Excellence. As part of UF’s ongoing research, clinical trials and studies are taking place. Take Care is assisting in this process by providing phlebotomy services to Sarasota-based participants. This is a unique opportunity for Take Care to be a part of the grassroots efforts in supporting UF’s endeavors to understand the cause of type 1 diabetes and investigate therapies to treat and ultimately cure the disease.
Safe Place and Rape Crisis Center (SPARCC)
Every holiday season, TAKE CARE and its satellite offices partner with SPARCC to provide gifts for families in need. TAKE CARE employees receive “wishes” from the mother and children and in turn purchase the needed items. SPARCC’s mission is to provide services to victims of domestic and sexual violence, and to promote a violence free community through awareness and education
Sarasota County Technical Institute and Manatee Technical Institute
TAKE CARE sponsors up to four Sarasota County Technical Institute’s “Outstanding Academic Achievement” award recipients each year. SCTI selects a top student and Susanne S. Wise, RN, MBA presents the award to him or her at graduation in recognition of outstanding performance in the Nursing Assistant program. Annually, the same award is presented for a Manatee Technical Institute student.
Scope
Take Care Private Duty Home Health Care is a proud sponsor of the 4th Annual Winter Forum on Aging hosted by SCOPE. The forum raises awareness and discusses the complexities of aging as it relates to our community and our institutions, including civic connectedness, aging and the workplace, and building community. SCOPE's mission is to connect and inspire citizens to create a better community. SCOPE brings together residents, business owners, government officials and organizations to listen, learn, and discuss issues that impact the quality of life in Sarasota County to create a better community.
Senior Friendship Centers
Take Care gives back to the community by helping to support the work of Senior Friendship Centers, a non-profit organization which offers an umbrella of services for persons fifty and older, including: Medical and Dental Clinics, Senior Centers, Adult Day Services, Caregiver Support, Nutrition programs, supportive aging services and volunteer programs. Take Care has provided nearly $4,000 in sponsorships and donations, including Dining with Friends Senior Friendship Centers 35th Anniversary Celebrations in Sarasota and Venice, the Swinging With Friends Golf Tournament in Venice, a monetary gift on behalf of the Take Care staff as a tribute to Susanne S. Wise, RN, MBA, as a holiday gift, and both Take Care and Take Care Advisor participated in the first annual Walk ’n’ Roll event on March 14, 2009 that benefited the Senior Friendship Centers and the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. Thousands of older adults and their families in Sarasota, DeSoto, Lee, Collier, and Charlotte Counties in Southwest Florida benefit from Senior Friendship Centers’ programs and services.
Shelter Box USA
In 2005, TAKE CARE’s clients and employees donated five shelter boxes to Shelter Box USA to provide shelter in Indonesia for the Tsunami Disaster Relief. Shelter Box USA is a project of the Rotary Clubs of Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Florida. Each shelter box containing $900 worth of emergency housing supplies, water, tools, and cooking equipment provides for ten people.
Suncoast Communities Blood Bank
Each year, TAKE CARE sponsors a blood drive with Suncoast Communities Blood Bank Blood drives account for 60 percent of the blood collected to help meet the needs of our hospitals and patients, according to SBBB’s website.
Team In Training
TAKE CARE donated funds to a Take Care Advisor employee who ran a marathon in support of the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services. More than $600 million has been invested in research since 1949 –more than $71 million in 2008—specifically targeting leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Last year alone, LLS made 6.3 million contacts with patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals.
Venice High School
Take Care sponsors various programs at Venice High School from the Interact Girls Service Club to the Diamond Booster Golf Tournament for the VHS State Championship winning Baseball Team from 2005 – 2007. Teresa Kaufman, RN Clinical Director, was the committee chairperson and participated in the event each year.
