A Mother’s Day story

In the May issue of West Coast Woman, Louise Bruderle weaves a story of how family and business can provide a well-balanced mix. This month, Take Care Private Duty Home Health Care celebrates its 15th Anniversary. Susanne S. Wise, RN, MBA opened Take Care 15 years ago.

Coinciding with Mother’s Day, this article shares not only how Susanne started Take Care and how the company has grown, but also how two of Susanne’s three daughters have joined Take Care to support her caregiving and geriatric care management efforts.

About Susanne S. Wise, RN, MBA
Susanne has more than 25 years of experience as a Registered Nurse and also has an MBA. When she opened Take Care in 1995 she had only four employees. Susanne’s also a mom. With her husband, commercial realtor Carl Wise they have raised three daughters – two of whom now work alongside their mom/boss. (Another daughter, Whitney, is not in the family business – not yet, anyway).

About Courtney R. Wise, MSG
Courtney, the eldest daughter, has been with Take Care longer than her sibling. And while she is locally grown and educated (Phillippi Shores Elementary, Julie Rohr Academy, Riverview High School and the University of Florida) she went to USC in California and earned a Masters in Gerontology. She went on to work for the L.I.F.E. Program and at the Freda Mohr Multipurpose Senior Center in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles. She also worked for a private duty geriatric care management company in Pasadena, assessing client needs in conjunction with clients and/or family, physicians, and other health care providers.

About Erika L. Wise, MA
Erika came on board last year – in stages. She has lived in New York City and most recently in Boston, and worked primarily in the publishing field. She is moving back full time to Sarasota, but has been able to do marketing and public relations for Take Care long distance. Her official title is Marketing Communications Manager and she also attended the University of Florida, but earned her Masters Degree in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College. When asked about her job at Take Care she draws a laugh when she says her position “didn’t exist” prior to her coming on board. Now Take Care not only has a marketing and public relations director, but also someone to maintain the company’s web site, work with the media, design all of its ads, and do the newsletter.
