With her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Marymount University, Melanie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, including specialization in post-operative surgical nursing, to Take Care as our Client Services Specialist. As part of the office staff nursing team, Melanie works closely with new services for prospective, new and returning clients as well as referrals which includes comprehensive follow ups. Furthermore, Melanie also conducts the initial assessments of clients and develops individualized care plans, tailored to suit the client’s specific needs with the goal of supporting autonomy in the client’s home setting.
In her role, Melanie makes the client’s needs more manageable. Melanie coordinates clients’ physician appointments, making sure to coordinate calendars with clients and Take Care’s schedulers. She also supervises the caregivers who provide the care to clients in their homes, assisted living, or skilled nursing locations. The caregivers range in skill (from companion, home health aide, or certified nurses aide to licensed practical nurse or registered nurse) and are assigned appropriately per doctor’s instruction or as dictated in the nursing plan of care. Melanie provides direction and on-going guidance to all levels of caregivers ensuring that at all times they meet the highest standards of Take Care.
Melanie states that what she provides for the client is possible not just due to her own knowledge of the clients as well as her nursing background and experience, but because the owner of the company, Susanne Wise, is herself a nurse and is closely familiar with each client and their individual needs. Since Take Care’s inception, Susanne has committed to knowing her clients and employees so well that each plan of care is the best possible for the client and is followed as it should be by caregivers who are well matched to the client. Melanie further asserts that Take Care’s 24-hour availability ensures open lines of communication to make sure that the client’s needs are being met and that as situations change for the client, Take Care can then immediately adapt to the client’s needs.
To Melanie there is nothing more rewarding to a nurse than knowing her clients are in good hands. This is her focus each day for each client and she couldn’t be more proud of the work she does or the company for whom she works.
