Business Observer: Courtney Wise Snyder named “40 Under 40” Winner

The Gulf Coast Business Review named Courtney R. Wise, MSG, of Take Care Advisor as a “40 Under 40” winner. The “40 Under 40” awards program recognizes bright, young business leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and executives in any field or industry from Tampa to Naples, who are under the age of 40. The GCBR team says, “the job title isn’t as important as what makes the nominees tick. We’re looking for people who make things happen.”

Read an excerpt from Courtney’s interview:

Employer: Take Care Advisor, LLC

Title: Executive Director

Education: Bachelor of Science in Marketing & Minor in Gerontology, University of Florida; Master of Science in Gerontology, University of Southern California

Years on the Gulf Coast: About 20 years. I grew up in Sarasota and moved to Los Angeles in 2005. I moved back to Sarasota in April 2008 to start Take Care Advisor.

Is your business seeing signs of an economic recovery: Take Care Advisor, a geriatric care management company, is an extension of Take Care Private Duty Home Health Care. TCA opened in 2008, just as we were starting to see a major downturn in the economy. I think if we would have been a stand-alone company we would have struggled more, but our relationship with Take Care has kept us afloat.

Best place to network: I find that my best networking happens at events that bring out the greatest mix of people. Any sort of event that incorporates professionals with a variety of backgrounds is a great networking opportunity.

Business person you admire most: My mother, Susanne Wise. I grew up watching her establish Take Care Home Health. I was about 15 when she opened the Take Care doors. She had a passion for home-health care and she had a unique business model. Since 1995 it has been inspiring to see the company grow from five employees to almost 500. She is a powerful businesswoman who is creative, intuitive, and ethical in her business dealings. As many entrepreneurs and successful business people know, work never stops. Yet she has maintained her commitment to family.

Three Web sites that make your job easier: www.google.com for a quick search; www.dictionary.com for assistance while writing; and www.pandora.com to add some sounds to the work environment

One community group you’re most involved with: Big Brothers Big Sisters. I have had my “little” sister for more than a year now. It was through a volunteer event with the Sarasota Young Professional Group that I became intrigued with the idea of becoming a BBBS mentor. The program is established to allow the younger adults and children the opportunity to have a guide, a leader and a positive role model in their life.
